Embrace the Mantra "Everything is not a competition": A mantra is a terminology borrowed from Buddhism philosophy, It is a daily saying a person can say to help them become more present in that moment. "Everything is not a competition" is a good mantra to use when feeling the pressure of meeting certain expectations of the people around you.
Step out of your comfort zone - There's a few things anyone can do to complete this task. Be mindful of overly anxious activities that can overstimulate you. An activity I always advocate for is to scroll through your log of contacts and give someone you haven't spoken to a while a call or send them a message just to see how they're doing.
Make a list of your self-care activities and keep daily logs as much as possible- Do you know what self-care is and do you know which activities get the most out of you? Do some research, ask around, self-care activities are any activities your mindfully complete that recharges your battery. Once you have an idea of some of the activities you already practice, create a log tracking these activities as often as possible. Becoming more mindful of these activities will increase the regularity of you completing them
Complete a 60-second-deep breathing exercise - Find a stopwatch or timer and set it for a minute. Close your eyes and inhale as much air into your lungs as possible. Do the same as your exhale a similar amount of carbon dioxide from your body. As days go by try to set aside more time in your day to just focus on your breathing. Try reciting a personal mantra that you've come up on your own.
Give or receive a hug from any living thing around you - Any living thing doesn't have to be a human being but hugs from human beings hold supreme. If it breathes, it's alive, and if it's alive it's an opportunity to feel connected with something bigger then yourself.
Learn how to fix something broken around- Broken door handle, need to replace a lightbulb, or change the batteries of a remote. For complicated activities, find a video on YouTube on how to complete that task. For simpler tasks, take the win and float away on this sense of accomplishment.
Organize your surroundings - Your environment has a big impact on how you're feeling at any given moment. A cluttered space does not always lend itself to feeling good. Take a few minutes to organize/help with organizing your surrounding and find comfort in a less hectic environment.
Find a means to express your creativity - Start singing, draw, paint, create a poem. The key takeaway is to remember that you are purposedly applying your creative side to task at hand.
Do a fun physical activity - This is self-explanatory, butt blinking your eyes really fast can be a quick physical activity to loosen some muscles in your body. Use your imagination and creativity.
